Psychic “Clairs.” What are they and do you have them?

Have you ever heard someone describe themselves as clairvoyant or clairaudient and wondered what exactly that means? Embracing and tapping into these extra-sensory abilities is how psychic’s read living energies and how medium’s communicate with those in spirit. Often referred to as the "clairs," these subtle gifts of communication are accessible to all of us (yes, even you!), and are how we receive intuitive information.

It wasn’t until I learned about clairs and began to pay attention that I realized that I had been using my clairs unknowingly my entire life. When I slowed down to recognize my intuitive thoughts and “gut feelings,” I also began to evaluate how I had arrived at that thought or feeling. Turns out, my clairs were providing me subtle bits of information that were guiding me through life. Have you ever been talking to someone on the phone and stopped to consider if the image in your mind of them talking back to you is accurate? Have you ever walked into a room and intuitively known the people in it before you had been arguing? Have you ever randomly thought about something or someone to have then or it suddenly appear in your life soon after? These are only a few examples of how clairs can work in your day to day. Next time you’re inadvertently daydreaming, stop to evaluate it. Next time you just “know” something, stop to consider which clairs may have given you the information.

In this blog post, we will explore the various clairs, explain what they are, and how you can tap into them or maybe you’ll find you already are!

1. Clairvoyance: The term clairvoyance comes from French words meaning "clear seeing." Those who possess clairvoyant abilities have the gift of clear vision and can receive intuitive information through mental images, symbols, or visions. This inner sight allows them to connect to things unseen. In some rare cases, clairvoyance can extend to the physical eyes (think physically seeing spirit).

Daydreaming is often the gateway into developing clairvoyance. Clairvoyance can be strengthened by exercising detailed visualizations in your minds eye, often referred to as the “third eye.” Dreams, especially prophetic ones, are a form of clairvoyance. Spirit messages in the form of seeing things, like angel numbers or feathers can also be considered clairvoyance.

2. Clairaudience: Clairaudience, or "clear hearing," is the ability to receive intuitive messages through auditory means. Individuals with this gift may hear voices, sounds, or music that others cannot perceive. These messages can come from spirit guides, loved ones in the spirit world, or higher realms of consciousness.

Clairaudience can also refer to messages received from any auditory source, like your beloved grandmother’s favorite song playing on the radio right after leaving her funeral. Ever get a song stuck in your head? Next time consider the lyrics. Could they be a message to you from the universe?

3. Clairsentience: Clairsentience, also known as "clear feeling," involves the ability to perceive energy and emotions through physical sensations or gut instincts. Those with clairsentient abilities may sense the emotions, intentions, or energies of others without any external cues. This empathic gift allows them to tune into the feelings of people or spirits around them.

4. Claircognizance: Claircognizance, or "clear knowing," is the ability to receive intuitive information through sudden insights, thoughts, or knowledge that seem to come out of nowhere. Individuals with claircognizant abilities may have a deep sense of knowing or understanding about a person, situation, or event without any logical explanation. Sometimes claircognizance can induce a form of clairvoyance by generating an imagine in your mind pieced together by details of your knowing.

5. Clairalience: Clairalience, or "clear smelling," involves the ability to perceive scents or smells that have spiritual significance. These olfactory messages can be associated with spirits, energies, or events from the past. For example, a medium may smell a particular fragrance that is linked to a deceased loved one as a way of validating their presence. I once got a random whiff of vomit only a few days before my entire family ended up with a stomach bug.

6. Clairgustance: Clairgustance, or "clear tasting," is the ability to receive intuitive information through taste sensations. This rare gift allows individuals to taste flavors or foods that have symbolic meaning or spiritual significance. These taste sensations can provide insights into a person's health, emotions, or spiritual connections.

By understanding the different clairs and how they can manifest in our own life, we can begin to recognize and, then, develop them over time. We can also gain a deeper appreciation for the diverse ways in which our guides and loved ones in spirit can communicate with us and protect and guide us through intuitive information. Whether you resonate with one particular clair or a combination of several, exploring and developing these gifts can lead to profound insights, healing, and spiritual growth. Embrace your unique abilities and trust in the guidance they provide as you navigate the world!
